Your Document Checklist
Arunachal Pradesh is a permit-regulated state. Indian visitors need an Inner Line Permit; foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit. Carry copies, you will be asked for them at check-posts.
Indian Nationals
- Inner Line Permit (ILP), applied online before you travel
- A government photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport)
- A passport-size photograph for the application
- Several printed copies of your ILP for the check-posts
- Confirmed stay details (a homestay or hotel name)
Foreign Nationals
- Protected Area Permit (PAP / RAP) via the FRRO portal or a registered operator
- Valid passport and Indian visa
- Travel is usually in a group of two or more with a registered operator
- Register with the local Foreigners' Registration Officer on arrival
- Several printed copies of every permit
